Annual Trustee Election
And Business Meeting

May 30th, 2009 @ 8:00pm

Each year we elect or re-elect Trustees for the following year. This year we have scheduled the Elections and Business Meeting for Sat. May 30th at 8pm. Because this is later than in past, the new Trustees will take over the next day. This will also allow us to report on our financial status after Kinko de Mayo.

In order to attend the Elections and Business meeting your Ohio SMART Membership must be current as of May 18th. You can not join after that date and attend the Elections/Business Meeting. In order to run for Trustee your membership must be current for at least 3 months prior to the elections, or Feb 28th, 2009. At this time at least two of the three Trustees plan to run for re-election. Anyone that is eligible is welcome to run. You must complete and return the Candidate Bio Form by May 23rd, midnight EDT to info@ohiosmart.org  if you wish to be on the first ballot. If all three Trustee positions are not filled on the first ballot, then will we open the second ballot to additional names. No absentee or proxy votes are allowed. You must be present to vote in the election.

The Business Meeting will precede the Election. If you have specific questions that you wish addressed please email them to the Trustees at info@ohiosmart.org prior to the meeting so that we can be better prepared to answer them.

The Position of Ohio SMART Trustee is not one to be taken lightly. The Trustees run the organization for the members. This is a volunteer position. No compensation is provided. Duties and obligations include attending First Friday and the monthly Meeting every month. Arriving early to set for the event, and staying late to close down and clean up after each event.

Other duties may include, obtaining supplies on an as needed basis. Making bank runs to get change or make deposits. Responding to emails sent to info@ohiosmart.org in a timely manner. Answering the SMART cell phone and returning calls. There may be Ohio SMART planning meetings to attend. Trustees generally attend the DRT or sRT meetings as well as the Energy and Poly group meetings.

The Trustees serve on the SMARTFEST Planning Committee as a committee chairs and work at SMARTFEST at least half the time. Sometimes 99% of the time.

Being an Ohio SMART Trustee is a significant commitment of time, each and every month for the upcoming year.

The Trustees' legal names are filed with the state of Ohio on an annual basis and may come up in a document or background search.
