Our last movie night was so awesome, we're doing it again! Mark your calendars for a slice of Hollywood history with...
The Celluloid Closet
If you're a movie buff, fascinated by the history of Hollywood censorship, or interested in LGBTQ+ representation in film, be sure to join us for this classic documentary that has something for everyone.
The Celluloid Closet covers ~100 years of LGBT people in film, from the dawn of moving pictures through the Hays Code years and into modern times. Everything from the controversies and the tropes to the hidden subtext there only for those willing to see it (hint: something was going on in Ben Hur and many other classic films, right under censors' noses), it will inspire you to dust off old titles for another look. With interviews from Gore Vidal, Susan Sarandon, Harvey Fierstein and many, many others. Don't miss it!
We'll be starting the film around 7:15-7:30, so be sure to arrive at 7 so you can check in and pick a comfortable seat. Be sure to bring your favorite snacks and (non alcoholic) beverages for yourself or to share to complete your "movie theater" experience!
