Join OhioSMART andSMART Queers for a special one-night movie screening! note: While this event is hosted by SMART Queers, you do not need to be LGBTQ+ identified to attend.
Leather history aficionados, SMART queers, and those who just plain like watching hot scenes! Join us in watching Bloodsisters, a documentary about the mid-90s leatherdyke scene in San Francisco. Interviews with people like Pat Califia and Skeeter are mixed with extensive footage of scenes, classes, and leather contests. This film looks back at a time when S/M and leather were deeply frowned upon as anti-feminist, so that leatherdykes were a minority within a minority. As the director writes, "...these practitioners are the queerest of the queer, and the group’s strong desire for self-definition shines through." And the film's pretty hot in the bargain.
The film is 1 h. 17 min. We have the space until 10 pm, which leaves plenty of time for discussion and hanging out for those who wish.
Please feel free to bring your favorite movie snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, etc!
